Downloading
Open any item and choose download. You get the original file, at full quality, saved wherever your browser puts downloads.
Downloading is free. It costs no credits, and there is no limit on how often you download the same thing.
You can select several items and download them together — the sensible way to collect the keepers from a batch.
On a phone, downloads go to your photo library or files app depending on the device and file type.
Download the things you care about
Your library is a working space, not a backup service. Anything you would be upset to lose belongs somewhere you control as well.
Two specific cases where this matters:
- Before you delete your account. The library goes with it. See deleting your account.
- Before a big clear-out. Deletion is not reversible.
What you get
The file itself. Files you generated here are yours to use — the terms in the app set out the details, and they are worth reading once if you are using the work commercially.
A downloaded file does not carry your prompt into someone else’s hands.
Deleting
Open an item and choose delete, or select several and delete them together.
Deleting moves an item to the trash. It is not gone yet — the trash is one of the views beside your gallery, showing everything you have deleted along with a count.
From there you can:
- Restore an item, putting it back where it was
- Delete forever, which is the irreversible one
- Empty the trash, clearing everything at once
Emptying works through a large trash in batches, so on a big one you may need to run it more than once — it tells you what is left.
Nothing expires on its own, so an item sits in the trash until you deal with it. That also means the trash counts towards your storage until you empty it.
What deleting affects
Deleting an item removes it everywhere — from Recent, from Generated, from Favorites, from whatever folder it was in. Those are views over one copy, not separate copies.
Removing something from a folder
Moving an item out of a folder is not deleting it — it returns to your library unfiled. Deleting a folder likewise leaves its contents alone. See folders.
To remove the contents too, open the folder, select everything, and delete.
Clearing up after a batch
The routine worth having:
- Open the batch and go through it once.
- Star the keepers.
- Select everything else and delete it.
- Move the keepers into a folder.
- Download anything you need outside the app.
Two minutes now. An afternoon if you leave it for five batches.
